APPLICATION OF CONSTRUCTIVIST THEORY IN LEARNING IT

Throughout this semester, Madam Sariah has repeatedly stressed on the importance of applying the elements of Constructivist Theory in learning Instructional Technology. It sounds so difficult. Whether we realize it or not, the elements have been gradually implemented within our learning process.

Madam asked us to produce a poster twice so that we will remember all the skills and steps in editing pictures using adobe Photoshop. This kind of repetition helps us to master and to improve. After that, Madam will evaluate our works and give feedback so that we can learn from mistakes we made and produce something better.

       Other than that, each and everyone in the class need to find a partner to work on blog, poster, and short video. Working in group makes it easier because we can learn a lot of knowledge from our partner and critique each other. This group work concept is also beneficial because we can exchange opinions and share the creativity in producing masterpieces. Just like what we, Faeizah and Syahirah have done throughout this semester.

       Madam acts as a facilitator who guides and gives advice throughout our learning. This is to promote the concept of student-centered learning. It enables us to think by our own and independently learning many new things. Last but not least, all the skills and knowledge that we get from this subject can be applied in real life as a future teacher one day.

Reflection on Learning Power Point Presentation

    We have been using Microsoft Power Point since we were kids. We never thought that we would have to learn about it in this subject. It was a shock knowing that there were a lot of things that we can do with this software. We can use animation in our Power Point Presentation and this was the best part. Madam Sariah taught us how to produce a simple yet interesting short quiz using the animation. We can make the answers look as if they ‘fly’ into the blanks. Not only that, we also learned about ‘hyperlink’, inserting audio or songs into the presentation and way to make the presentation play automatically. Just AWESOME.

  Other than that, for the sake of learning and better understanding, we were asked to produce a Power Point Presentation about “Saving the Environment”. Madam gave us an article to be used as a guide. Using all the skills we learned, we had wholeheartedly produce an AWESOMEly fun Power Point Presentation.

Reflection on Learning Windows Movie Maker

           After all of us had submitted our posters, Madam Sariah asked us to download and install Window Movie Maker. Just like the name, this software allows us to make our own movie. So again, we were assigned to produce a motivational and informational short video which is suitable for students.

    Learning the ways to use this software was very exciting because we could select any video clips we like and we could modify it as we want. We could make it shorter, faster, and longer. Other than that, we also could insert our favourite songs into the video. Great, right?

      After donkey years of brainstorming, we had decided to choose “Good VS Bad Attitudes” as the theme of our video. The title is “Be a Betterman”. Again, all the obstacles that we had gone through had ‘resurrected’. Credit to Madam Sariah and all of our friends who had helped us in making this video a success. We still remember what Madam told us when we asked her about our video. She said “Don’t afraid to make mistakes”. These words really inspired us. At last, we have managed to produce an AWESOMEly outstanding short video. Proudly present to you………………(drumroll)

Reflection on Learning Adobe Photoshop

            One fine day, Madam Sariah asked us to download Adobe Photoshop CS3 and install the ‘powerful’ software in our laptop. At first, we were very excited to learn how to use it because we had never used it before. It took us quite a long time to download it. After Madam Sariah had taught us the basics steps on how to use Adobe Photoshop, we started to feel confused as there were a lot of steps to be memorized. Things became much complicated when we could not pick up what Madam Sariah taught us about. She taught us the steps as fast as lightning while we learned it as slow as a turtle.

We often asked her so many questions and even though she would babble a lot, but at the end, she would still show us the right way to make things work. The best part of using adobe is when we can crop a part of picture and paste it into another picture we like. Madam asked us to produce our first poster and we had to apply all the steps that had been taught to us. Tadaaa!!!!! Have a look at our AWESOME 1^st poster of the year!!!!

They are beautiful, right? Awesome!! We know that they look amateur but we are proud of it. Why? Because this is our first product!

Next, Madam gave us another chance to try combining two pictures together into a poster. Again, we made another poster. Tuduuuu!! Here are our AWESOME 2^nd posters!!!

They looked better, right? So, it is proven that “practice makes perfect”!! We love using Adobe Photoshop!!

We also learned how to make a film strip using Adobe Photoshop. Not just an ordinary one, we can also make it look like it is folded, rolled and etc. Since we can put some pictures on the strip, they look like a real one. Just like these two AWESOME film strip!!

After we were about to ‘master’ Adobe Photoshop, Madam Sariah assigned us to create a poster. This is the instruction:

 “Students in the same group must create a A3 size coloured poster which is suitable for school environment issues. Using the photo editing software Adobe Photoshop, students must use the skills of editing, colour selection and themes. The criteria is based on the theme and clear message, original images, skills of editing and utilization of space. Due Date: Week 8(10 marks)”

10 marks??? Subhanallah. That’s a lot! At first, we kept changing the theme of our poster because we did not have the confidence to make a good one. Finally, we decided to focus on ‘children’ as the theme. For some people, making a poster might sound easy. We just have to crop some pictures, put them together and write a title. Actually, it is not that simple. It is not simple at all. We went through a lot of difficulties but, it was fun to recall.

First, the process of making the poster consumed us a LOTTTTTT of time. Besides, it really required high level of patience (which we do not have) since we could not find real water colour to put into the poster and we kept changing the colour of the background. The process of editing, cropping and erasing made us suffered. We consulted Madam Sariah for so many times, asking her this and that. We were so thankful as she gave us some great ideas. 

After going through all the hardship, finally we have succeeded to produce an AWESOMEly cute and catchy poster. Proudly present to you…… (drumroll)

Our AWESOME reflection of the first class

    At the first glance on the name of the subject, we thought that it would be a class full of technical terms and advanced programs.When the class started, everything turned out differently.It is such a great relieve knowing that this class is not all about theories in technology. From what we can see so far, the main focus is to teach us the ways to apply knowledge of technology in teaching and learning process.
